Steve Dorfman is the founder and current CEO of two Florida-based firms: Simple Health and Simple Insurance Leads. A native South Floridian, he attended the prestigious University School at Nova Southeastern University, where he displayed a natural aptitude for business at an early age. For college, he attended Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina, studying business administration and management. When he graduated, in 2006, he set his mind to changing the insurance industry for the better.
Dorfman began his career in an entry-level insurance sales position, but rose quickly as he proved himself a formidable manager. In 2009, he was named vice president of sales at America’s Health Brokers. In 2010, he was named CEO of America’s Health Care Plans (AHCP). In 2012, after two successful years at the helm of AHCP, he founded Simple Health.
Steve Dorfman timed the founding of Simple Health to coincide with the challenging rollout of the Affordable Care Act. The company is founded on Dorfman’s own principles: choice, transparency, and excellent customer service. Dorfman realized these characteristics were all too often lacking in the healthcare space, and he resolved to make them accessible for customers across the United States. Within months, Simple Health had a coast-to-coast network of insurance agents licensed to sell plans in all 50 states.
In addition to his commitment to making health insurance more accessible for all, Steve Dorfman is a fierce advocate for workplace gender equality and diversity in STEM education and careers. He has earned several accolades for his work, including a “40 Under 40: Top Young Entrepreneur” award and an Insurance Industry “Up and Comer” designation. You can read an interview with him here.
